We are pleased to present the 2009-2011 Board of Directors for the SMILE Organization. These individuals have committed many hours of their own time to ensure that the SMILE Organization runs smoothly and efficiently.
Carrie, the current President of SMILE and is also serving as the SMILE Treasurer. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Recreation and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. Carrie retired from the City of Scottsdale in April, 2008 after a 32 year career. Her career includes working in Recreation, Community Development, Redevelopment and Neighborhood Resources, where she was introduced to the SMILE organization. Carrie currently works for herself doing family entertainment for corporate events and birthday parties. ________________________________
Jerry Quarles is currently the Vice-President and was past Director of S.M.I.L.E. history. Jerry publishes the “Heroes for Safety” newsletter and is the S.M.I.L.E. webmaster. Jerry has been in Law Enforcement for 26 years, 20 of which has been with the Mesa Police Department as a Crime Prevention Officer. Jerry is a master magician, professional puppeteer and skilled curriculum designer. He has developed a variety of chid safety programs for every age group including programming for children with handicaps or disabilities. ________________________________

Bruce Wall, MS, ICPS is one of the co-founders of S.M.I.L.E. Bruce is a Neighborhood Safety Coordinator for the City of Scottsdale (Arizona). ________________________________

Gerry “Dusty” Innis joined S.M.I.L.E. in 2005. Gerry is a volunteer with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and is the Director of Crime Prevention Unit for that organization. Dusty attended Clown Camp at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse campus June of 2007 and 2008. A second character “Officer O’Kelly” appeared in the fall of 2008 and convinced Gerry to volunteer with the Drexel Heights Fire Department as a member of the safety education unit. Gerry is also a Shrine Clown with Sabbar Shrine in Tucson. ________________________________
Garree ”Happy” Innis joined S.M.I.L.E. in 2006. Garree is a volunteer with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and is the Deputy Director of Crime Prevention Unit for that organization. Happy attended Clown Camp at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse campus June of 2007 and 2008. Garree also volunteers with the Drexel Heights Fire Department as a member of the safety education unit. Garree is also a clown with Ladies Oriental Shrine in Tucson. |
